A south Sacramento neighborhood flooded early Thursday after a water main broke.

The break occurred near the intersection of Lantana Avenue and 44th Street.

Utility workers were called in to fix the water line and clean up the mess.

The Fruitridge Vista Water Co. said the broken section will be replaced by mid-afternoon, but that 35 homes remain without water for now. Those customers will get bottled water deliveries upon request.
