ELK GROVE, Calif. -- A funeral service will be held today for a Sacramento County sheriff's deputy killed last week while on duty.Deputy Larry Canfield died Nov. 12 after he crashed his motorcycle into a car along Coloma Road in Rancho Cordova.His funeral service is set for 10 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Elk Grove.East Stockton Boulevard between Sheldon Road and the area just south of East Lawn will be shut down from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.Sheldon Road between Lewis Stein Road and the onramp to southbound Highway 99 will be closed from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.Sheriff John McGinness said it appears Canfield was trying to stop a speeder when another vehicle made a left turn in front of him.McGinness said it does not appear there was criminal intention involved, adding that the driver of the car involved tried to help Canfield after the crash.
