'Stuffed-Shirt Bandit' Pleads Guilty

SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- A serial robber deemed the "stuffed-shirt bandit" pleaded guilty Friday to seven counts of bank robbery, U.S. Attorney McGregor W. Scott said.Scott Stewar Singewald, 42, was seen stuffing cash into his shirt before he'd run away during his holdups.Authorities said the robbery spree started last fall in Fairfield at a Bank of America branch. He struck again in Woodland at the Bank of the West, in Madera at Central Valley Community Bank, in Stockton at a Washington Mutual Bank, in Roseville at a River City Bank, in Sacramento at a Bank of the West, and in Lincoln at a Wells Fargo Bank.Singewald was arrested without incident earlier this year outside his residence at a Roseville motel, Scott said.His sentence has not yet been determined.
