Two El Dorado County sheriff's deputies injured in a gun battle in Shingle Springs earlier this week were released from Sutter Roseville Medical Center on Friday, while a third injured deputy will likely be well enough to leave the hospital next week.

A hospital representative said Deputy Melissa Meekma and Deputy Greg Murphy were allowed to go home. Deputy Jon Yaws was listed in fair condition and remains hospitalized. All three were hurt by gunfire.

The deputies were called to property on South Shingle Springs Road on Tuesday morning after receiving a report of a shooting.

Sheriff Jeff Neves said 35-year-old Edward Mies is accused of killing his 72-year-old father, Arthur Mies, and then attempting to lure deputies into an ambush. The younger Mies died from a shot that was likely fired by a deputy, Neves said.

A police K-9 named Donder was also injured in the gun battle. Donder was treated at a veterinary hospital and released. Donder, who works with Yaws, was reunited with the deputy Thursday at the medical center.
